The Daytona's 40mm oyster case is fashioned from a block of 904L steel and 18K yellow gold and protects the intricate movement from the elements. The Triplock triple waterproofness crown and a patented case back hermetically seals the Oyster case and guarantees the watch waterproof to a depth of 100 meters (330 feet). Covered by a scratch-resistant sapphire, the Daytona is as resilient as the individuals who wear them.

The Oyster bracelet was first introduced in the 1930s and has been established as the most universal style bracelet in the Rolex collection. Movement & COSC Certification

The Rolex Daytona 116523 is powered by a chronograph perpetual, mechanical, self-winding caliber 4130 jewel movement, where the motion of the human wrist creates the energy to power the watch itself. Revered by watchmakers and enthusiasts alike, the 4130 caliber movement has been considered one of the best movements ever made. Developed and manufactured entirely by Rolex, the caliber 4130 architecture requires far less components than traditional chronographs making the 4130 incredibly reliable. The caliber 4130 movement is certified by the non-profit and independent Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) where it is put through rigorous tests for a continuous 15 days. The COSC reserves this highly coveted certification to movements that demonstrate exceptional precision in a number of varied positions and temperatures.

Tachymeter Bezel

Meticulously designed for functionality and aesthetics, the Dayona's engraved tachymeter bezel is dedicated to racing drivers and measures elapsed time over a given distance. Along with the chronograph the Daytona accurately measures speed up to 400 units per hour. 

Chronograph

Initiated by pressing the screw-down pushers located on each side of the crown the chronograph sub-dial counters begin their high-precision timing. The central counter measures 1/8 second, while the two above it measure elapsed time in hours and minutes. Due to the high power reserves provided by the amazing caliber 4130 movement the Daytona simultaneously keeps time and accurately maps your lap times.
